How Utilishield Works:

  • Since the utility systems have a billing and collecting system in place, Utilishield contracts with them to provide 3rd party billing services for a fee.
  • Utilishield then markets the program to the utility customers at no cost.
  • The customers/homeowners voluntarily sign up for the program through Utilishield by phone, mail or at www.utilishield.com
  • Utilishield coordinates customer sign ups with the utility system on a regular basis.
  • The utility systems bill the enrolled customers in their normal billing cycle ($3/month or $9/quarter).
  • The utility system benefits by offering education and protection to the customers at no additional cost.
  • The utility system receives $5 per enrolled customer per year for 3rd party billing.
